New dog treats

April 13, 2011

Our fish treat manufacturing plant is nearing completion so we will soon have the fish skins available again and the popular salmon based fish treats.

However we are still adding to the list of healthy dog treats and have added tripe sticks and dried whole sprats – in two handy sized bags.  Available as single bags and a special price for “packs of three” – ideal for a bedtime treat.

So take a look when you next order your dog food and add some of these tasty dog treats to your order.

Breeders Club

April 13, 2011

Our Breeders Club is now up and running with details of our terms and an application form can be found under “Breeders Club” tab on our home page.

Please note that the food that we are offering via our Breeders Club are high quality, hypo allergenic, wheat, soya, dairy and gluten free with no additives, preservatives or colourings.  However to comply with the strict requirements to enable us to provide special working dog food the food has to be a different specification to the food we already supply as pet food.   Therefore our initial range for our Breeder Club will contain a Working Adult Salmon & Potato, a Working Puppy Salmon & Potato and our already well established Working with garlic and herbs.

Please download your own application form and send to the office so that we can add you to our Breeders Club so you can start and take advantage of the Breeder Club special prices and deals.

Dear all
Further to our news update on the 3rd of January we decided to hold our current prices to our customers for a further month and the anticipated increase due on February 1st did not happen.  Unfortunately the increase to us last August and the large increase to us on February 1st has forced us to increase the prices of our dog food range.   As we said in January the cost of our core ingredients have increased significantly along with energy costs which are used in the production process and deliveries these increases are the reason for the price increase.

On the positive side our food still remains our own unique recipe, formulated by ourselves and the highly trained nutritional team at our manufacturer.    It is still one of the very few dog foods in the market that are truly gluten, Soya and dairy free (no maize); single species food with no fats, oils or proteins from any other food source; contains the valuable Omega 6 & Omega 3 fatty acids and prebiotics and there are no artificial colouring’s, preservatives or flavourings.   Our foods also contain a ‘joint pack’ of MSM, Glucosamine and Chondroitin.  There are many new ranges of dog foods currently being promoted but so many are a generic manufacturered dog food that are being promoted as being unique but are simply the same food as others but bagged in different bags.

Our food contains no cheap fillers and was specially formulated to give the benefits that we all look for in our pet/working and show dogs and has come from our own experiences over many years of showing successfully, breeding top winning dogs and more importantly looking after our much loved companions.   Our food completely fulfils our own current needs which was initially the main reason we created the Challenge Dog Food range as we could not find a quality food at an affordable price.   With the quality of ingredients we are committed to continue to use and the true benefits that our dogs gain from the food we still firmly believe Challenge Dog Food is the best dog food on the market place.

Our “Breeder Club” is taking shape and we will soon be uploading Breeder Club Application Forms in readiness of going live from the 1st April.  We thank you for the email enquiries already received and we will ensure that you will receive a copy of the application form as soon as they are available.  Initially the breeder bags were going to be 20kg but delivery charges on bags of that size were proving to be very expensive therefore we are now going to be introducing 14kg bags so that the current method of a 48 hour delivery service can still be utilised.
Our show calendar is nearly completed and details of the shows and events we will be attending will be posted shortly.

With Crufts around the corner we wish all of our customers the very best of luck for next week and to remember to email us with details of your successes, with photos, of any show/working/agility wins you gain.
“Happy New Year to all our customers and we hope that 2011 is as successful to everyone as they would wish it to be.

The doom and gloom surrounding the economy has also hit dog food and raw materials were increased to us back in August 2010.  As we had already given our assurances that we would not increase our dog food until January 2011 at the earliest we absorbed these extra costs.   However we are having to increase our dog food in line with the VAT increase coming in on the 4th January.

The core ingredients used in our food have increased in costs significantly over the last few months with oils, fats and meats all experiencing double digit rises percentage wise.   Also energy costs have increased which has had a bearing on production costs.   These extra costs will be passed onto us on February 1st so we will have no option but to increase the cost of our dog food again on February 1st.

On the bright side we will be introducing at the same time our own “Breeders Club” where we will be offering 20kg breeder bags at special rates.  More details about our Breeders Club will be posted soon but if you wish to kept informed then please email us with your contact details.

We will also be introducing puppy packs for breeders to enable the new owners to have a sample of our puppy food so they can continue to feed their puppy the food he/she has been weaned on.  Once again details will be posted soon on this but do please email us with your contact details if you wish to be notified directly when these will be ready.

The Challenge Dog Food team will also be attending some of the Championship shows this coming season.  Once we have finalised which shows we will be attending we will be circulating the list of shows.  We will be offering special “show offers” on orders taken at the shows, our own UK produced fish treats and new fish treats and of course the range of Tuffie Toys and other related dog products.    All of our products will soon be listed within our “on line shop” so we will be able to ship these items direct to your home.

Finally a repeated plea for owners/exhibitors/breeder to send us your photos (winning, puppy and dogs just being dogs photos) and details of wins.   Not only do we like to include photos of our customers’ dogs on our website but it also helps us to have photos to hand when we re-start our advertising in the dog press.

Price changes

February 17, 2010

Unfortunately from 1st March we will be increasing our prices. The cost of the raw materials in our foods have increased from 1st February this along with the VAT increase dictates the change. 15 kg Prices will be as follows:

Performance, Maintenance & Senior/Light – £32.50
Puppy and Junior – £33.50
Working will remain the same price

Challenge will once again be holding prices in February 2010 and will be absorbing the VAT increases.

However unfortunately from 1st March we will be increasing our prices. The cost of the raw materials in our foods have increased from 1st February this along with the VAT increase dictates the change.

Junior Dog Food

January 22, 2010

Unfortuately there has been an oversight with the price for the 15kg Junior dog food which has resulted in a lower price being charged. This has now been corrected and the accurate price is now in place. The Junior food and the Puppy food are the same price.

Apologies for any inconvenience
